We are looking for a junior investment professional at the Associate or Senior Associate level to join the Public Markets team in the New York office. The Public Markets team sits within the Investment Group (IG). We manage discretionary portfolios and also partner closely with IG colleagues to generate, analyze and implement ideas for investing, hedging and yield-enhancement purposes, across single stocks and indices globally.
Role Summary
Public Markets is seeking to hire a junior investment professional to expand our team in New York. The candidate will work most closely with investment colleagues in the US (across our San Francisco, Washington D.C. and New York offices) but will also collaborate extensively across our global offices. They will participate in all aspects of the investment process, from due diligence, through getting committee approval, to post-investment monitoring. The candidate will be expected to support the team in evaluating new investment ideas, portfolio monitoring, creating presentations for investment committee and to eventually recommend new investment ideas.
Core Responsibilities
• Conduct financial due diligence - build detailed integrated financial models and analyze key commercial, financial and valuation drivers. Excellent financial modeling skills are an absolute requirement
• Conduct research to form views of business models and sectoral developments
• Track our core public equity holdings to provide quarterly views formed through channel checks, monitoring of 3rd party data, conversations with buy side and sell side analysts and regular dialogue with company management teams
• Regularly disseminate views and discuss ideas with investment colleagues, both verbally and in writing
• Over time, combine all of the above responsibilities to generate investment ideas for Temasek's public equity holdings
• Support project team in ad hoc projects and reporting tasks Essential Skills
• Excellent analytical and verbal / written communication skills
• Strong financial modeling skills and fundamental equity analysis
• Proficient in Power point
• Proficient with Bloomberg and/or other platforms (Factset, CapIQ etc), and able to extract market and fundamental related datasets to manipulate and illustrate arguments
• Ability to independently research ideas and analyze data
• Compile investment theses with supervision from senior members of the team
• Team-player, who can collaborate effectively across a global team
• Proactive self-starter who can manage work product independently
• Purpose-driven, motivated individual with strong interest in creating positive impact
• A positive can-do attitude with a high degree of intellectual curiosity
• Periodic travel required Experience
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required
• Around 2 -3 years of work experience with a top-tier private equity, investment bank, corporate finance, M&A or research firm
• Strong analytical insight and financial modelling skills, as well as a strong understanding of financial statements at an intermediate level Salary Range: Base salary of US$120K - US$195K per annum (compensation structure includes various additional incentives payable in April, August and October annually)
